A Family On A Mission
We are a family company with a love of the great outdoors. It's all about the forest, farms, cottages, and cabins; it's picnics, the mountains, the prairies, and the oceans white with foam. We are a husband and wife striving to make a difference in the lives of those around us, a daughter who joined the company on faith, and a son who saw an opportunity to extend that help beyond our neighbors.
Our family created the Hide Care brand with the goal of sharing a solution to our problem with mainstream soaps. Mainstream soaps were causing skin conditions, such as rashes, eczema symptoms, and other conditions, which felt debilitating. We tried to switch to more natural soaps, but found that other natural soaps were too expensive, and for too small a size!
That's where we saw our opportunity, and set off to solve a problem. . .
The Problem
Mainstream soaps often use chemicals like Sulfates, Parabens and metals like Iron
Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. Alone, there’s only a small chance that they could cause a type of
skin irritation. However, most companies tend to combine these ingredients. The result? The
body loses its natural protective oils, and can cause rashes, swelling, itching, and can leave
your skin feeling high and dry.
What are Parabens?
Parabens are synthetic preservatives that are used in ultra-processed foods and drugs alike. In small amounts, parabens might cause irritation, redness and swelling. In the worst case scenario, they may start to disrupt the endocrine system.
Parabens in Natural Soap
Be careful with products that claim to be all-natural. Some may contain ingredients like “butylparaben”, “methylparabane”, and “ethylparaben”. As you can see, they’re still parabens. Always check the labels for such ingredients that may try to sneak in.
Metals in Soap
Do you eat metal? If the answer is no, then you probably don’t want to rub it on your skin either. Metals like Iron Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are also ingredients commonly found in mass-produced soap. They’re also known to cause irritation and symptoms similar to dermatitis, like rashes and swelling.
Your Skin is not Leather
Sulfates are another issue that are common in mass-produced soaps. They take on different forms like Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate. And while laurel is in fact a plant, these sulfate compounds are not. In fact, you’ll be shocked to know that sulfates are commonly used in the process of making leather.
The Solution
Using natural soaps can help prevent all of the skin irritation in the first place. That’s
where Hide Care comes in. With ingredients like Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and other all natural ingredients, Hide
Care’s soaps both clean and nurture even the most sensitive parts of the body without the
irritation or leaving behind metal particles. Best of all, our lack of Sulfates and Parabens means
the body retains its natural oils. Rather than coming out of the shower feeling dry, and possibly
itchy, our customers will come out feeling soft and smooth, and smelling fresh!
